Shiromani Akali Dal MLA and general secretary of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, was set up to brawl against Aanand L Rai's Zero after the trailer included a scene in which Shah Rukh Khan was seen wearing a Gatra Kirpan (article of Sikh faith). Sirsa documented a protestation with the police, asserting that the scene "made shock among Sikh people group around the world".

Before long, the PR group of Zero released an official explanation in the interest of the creators, clearing up that the knife in the scene was a 'katar', which was "no place near a Kirpan that conveys the recognized gift of being Khalsa". "The producers have been mindful so as not to offend of any network including the Sikh people group," it read.
The creator's speedy reaction has conciliated Sirsa. Cheering their speediness, he tweeted, "It's great you have cleared up this in time. We acknowledge your point. Anything that harms religious notions ought to be illuminated with clear correspondence."
The film, which has guest appearances by Sridevi, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Rani Mukerji, Kajol, and Salman Khan, is slated to release on December 21.
